Export everything, any time — licence or no licence

SideClick exports the whole practice as an encrypted .cfbak archive and clinical data as FHIR, PDF and CSV, in every licence state including unlicensed. This page is the canonical account of the leaving-friendly design.

Exports keep working, forever

The whole practice in one encrypted file

.cfbak is SideClick's full-practice archive: records, schedules, billing, outcomes and settings in a single encrypted file that restores a practice from bare metal. Take one before a hardware change, keep one off-site on your own terms, or hand one to your successor when you sell the practice.

Secure wipe is the companion tool — when a machine is decommissioned, the database can be destroyed properly rather than hopefully.

Standards for everything that leaves

Clinical data exports in the formats the outside world actually accepts:

  • FHIR bundles for interoperability with other health systems
  • PDF for signed notes, reports and invoices
  • CSV for spreadsheets, accountants and analysis
  • De-identified export with automatic redaction of identifiers, for sharing beyond the care relationship

Consent and subject access, handled

Privacy law gives patients the right to ask what you hold about them. SideClick tracks consent alongside the clinical record and assembles subject-access exports from the chart, which turns a legal obligation with a deadline into an afternoon's supervised task — with the audit trail recording that it happened.

The guarantee, precisely stated

Every export path on this page — .cfbak, restore, FHIR, PDF, CSV, de-identified — works in every licence state: active, grace, expired, and never-licensed, forever. Lapsing pauses growth-side capabilities like sync and new intake; it never touches your ability to read, edit or take your existing data.

The complete capability-by-licence-state matrix is published on the pricing page. It is the standard we think you should hold any practice-software vendor to: ask them what exactly still works when you stop paying, and compare the answers.

Editions

There is nothing to buy here. Every export format ships in every edition, and Practice editions add relay-side encrypted backup on top of local .cfbak — see multi-device sync for how that copy stays unreadable to us.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can I still export my data if I stop paying?

Yes, forever. Every export path works in every licence state including unlicensed. Lapsing pauses sync and new intake; it never locks existing records.

What exactly is in a .cfbak file?

The complete practice: patient records, notes, schedules, billing, outcomes and settings, as one encrypted archive that can restore SideClick from scratch on a new machine.

Can I move to another practice system later?

Your data leaves in standard formats — FHIR for structured clinical data, CSV for tabular data, PDF for documents. What the next system can import is its own question, but nothing on our side holds you.

What is the de-identified export for?

Sharing beyond the care relationship — research, teaching, service evaluation. It applies automatic redaction of names, contact details and other identifiers before anything leaves the record.
