What on-device AI means here

Most practice software with an AI feature sends your session content to a third-party API and returns the answer. SideClick does the inference locally: the model lives on your computer, the patient information stays in the room, and there is no AI vendor on the other end accumulating transcripts of your clinical work.

The practical consequences are easy to verify. The assistant works in a clinic with no internet. It adds no per-token bill. And when a client asks where their session content goes when the AI helps with the note, the answer is: nowhere.

How it works in practice

Take a documentation session as the example. You finish with a patient and open the note; the assistant has the session context — the appointment, the care plan, recent outcomes — and offers a draft of each SOAP section. You edit it the way you would edit a student's draft, run the pre-sign check, and sign. The whole exchange happened between you and your own computer.

Every assistant follows the same contract: it proposes, you decide. Nothing it writes enters the record until you approve it, it never triggers an action on its own, and AI involvement is recorded in the audit trail alongside your consent settings.

You stay the clinician

SideClick's AI is decision support and stops there. It does not diagnose, does not sign, and is deliberately conservative about clinical judgement. That boundary is not marketing modesty; it is how the features are built, and it is why the assistant's output always arrives as a draft in your handwriting to correct.

Off means off

Declining AI is a first-class choice, not a nag loop. A practice that opts out sees no AI buttons, no prompts, no upsell banners; the application simply works without it. Practices that opt in can still disable individual assistants.
