What your devices may do comes from the seat on your account: a free trial or a subscription. Every seat includes syncing through the sync server and the storage there. Settings → Your seat shows the seat you hold, when it renews or ends, and who pays for it.
A new account starts with a free trial of every feature on every device; Your seat shows the day it ends. After that you can still read, edit, export and back up everything, but adding new records needs a seat. An ended subscription never stops new records: sync and the portal pause until it is renewed.
There are two editions, SideClick Solo and SideClick Practice. A subscription belongs to whoever pays — a solo clinician, a practice owner or a clinic owner — and its seats are handed to people by invitation. A seat belongs to the person who holds it and follows them into every practice they belong to. Leaving a practice gives the seat back to whoever paid for it, and the payer can take it back on Your seat; the person keeps their account and falls back to their own trial or subscription.
Every paid seat is a clinician seat, and each comes with one free seat for a front desk or bookkeeper. Only someone whose every role is front desk or bookkeeper may hold a free seat; a practice owner, clinic owner, associate or assistant holds a clinician seat. An invitation for the front desk or a bookkeeper takes a free seat first and a clinician seat only when no free one is left.
Buy or change seats on the website, from Your seat; they reach your devices at the next sign-in. Buying during the trial keeps everything you have entered: the trial becomes a subscription on the same account.
Every seat covers 5 devices, 3 of them computers. The payer sees seats used and storage used — never records.
