Fluency sample Conversation: no syllables counted
Counting in real time
Tap once per syllable spoken and once per stuttered moment. The timer runs on the sample you are using, so speaking rate comes out as syllables per minute of timed speech. Undo takes back the last tap. Percent syllables stuttered is stuttered moments divided by syllables, to one decimal.
Add a sample for each context — conversation, reading, monologue, a phone call — and the summary reports each one and the overall figure.
What counts as a stuttered moment
That is your clinical judgement, not the tool's: repetitions, prolongations and blocks by whichever protocol your service follows. The counter records the moments you mark and nothing else.
The line for the note
Copy gives one line per sample — stuttered of total syllables, the percentage and the rate — plus an overall line when there is more than one sample.
Questions, answered
Can I count from a recording later?
Yes. Start the timer when playback starts and pause it with the recording; the rate is worked out from the timed seconds.
Why is syllables per minute blank?
It needs at least five seconds of timed speech. Start the timer before you start tapping.
