Trials are kept in this browser only until you clear them. Nothing identifies the person.

Three timed tasks

Maximum phonation time on a sustained /a/ at comfortable pitch and loudness; a sustained voiceless /s/; a sustained voiced /z/. Each stop saves a trial to the task you picked, so three trials of each take under two minutes, and the best of each is what the summary reports.

The s/z ratio is the longest /s/ divided by the longest /z/. The page shows the number and leaves the interpretation to the norms your clinic uses — values vary with age, sex and protocol, and the tool does not pick one for you.

Keeping every trial

The trial list shows each attempt with its task and duration, and any can be removed if the person started late or ran out of breath to a cough. The copied summary names the best of each task and the trials behind it.

On a phone, in the room

The start and stop control is one large button so you can watch the person rather than the screen. Timing uses the device's high-resolution clock.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Why was a very short trial not saved?

Trials under half a second are dropped as accidental taps. Everything longer is kept.

Can I enter a time by hand?

Not on this page — it only records what it times. Copy the summary and adjust the figure in your note if a trial was timed another way.
