In SideClick: Sign in → Forgot your password?
Forgot your password? on every sign-in screen opens Set a new password with your recovery code. Type your email, the recovery code and a new password twice, then Set new password. Nobody — including SideClick — can do this for you: the code is what opens your personal key.
What happens, said on the screen before you confirm:
- Every one of your devices is signed out and signs in again with the new password.
- You get a new recovery code, shown once and typed back; the one you typed stops working.
- A phone, tablet or browser signs in again with the new password straight away, and anything it has not yet sent is kept and sent then.
- A computer whose records are set up opens them only with the password you forgot, so they are erased here and fetched again from the sync server; anything this computer had not yet sent is lost. The screen asks you to confirm that first.
- A computer with nothing set up yet loses nothing.
Afterwards a computer shows the sign-in screen: sign in with the new password, and when it asks to be approved, use another of your devices or the new recovery code. If the computer's records could not be erased, type the new password on the sign-in screen and choose to erase this computer and rebuild it from the sync server.
If you have no recovery code and no device of yours is still signed in, nobody — including SideClick — can open your records again.
