Two things let a patient type into SideClick, and they are not the same.
The front-desk kiosk is this computer, handed to a patient at reception. Choose the patient and the forms to complete, start the kiosk session, and hand the computer over; the patient fills in the forms and can be asked about consent to the AI. Everything typed is sealed on this computer, and the care team sees the computed scores. Ending the session locks the app until a staff password is typed. The kiosk is in every edition; Settings → Practice can take it out of the menu if your patients complete their forms before they arrive.
The remote patient portal is a separate website patients sign into from home. There they message the practice, ask to book a time, fill in forms you send them, read documents you share, and follow a home programme with a quick reply on how it is going. The portal is part of the Practice edition.
A patient joins the portal by invitation from their own record: the Portal access card makes a single-use invitation link, which you send to the patient over a channel you trust. The card also shows their status, lets you send a form, share a document view-only, and revoke access. If the patient loses the key their browser holds, revoke their access and invite them again.
What a patient sends through the portal is sealed in their browser and opened only on your devices; the sync server carries it and cannot read it.
