Export file inspector

Before you switch, know what moves. Load the CSV export from your current practice system and the inspector shows which columns SideClick's importer maps, which it leaves behind, and which dates it would reject — using the importer's own rules, not an approximation.

Use the tool

The file is read in your browser and never uploaded. Nothing from it is kept when you leave the page.

Drop the CSV your current system exported, or choose it.

The same rules as the real importer

The page runs the desktop importer's own CSV parser, column schema and vendor profiles. A file is recognised as a Cliniko, SimplePractice, Jane or WriteUpp export by its header signature, and each vendor column is remapped onto the SideClick template exactly as the in-app wizard would do it. Columns that already use the template names map directly. Everything else is reported as not imported, with how many rows hold data in it — so you know what to keep from the original export.

Dates get a second look: the importer only accepts YYYY-MM-DD, and the inspector counts the rows in each date column that would be rejected after the vendor's date format is converted.

What each vendor's export leaves out

Where a vendor is recognised, the page repeats the honest disclosure the wizard shows: attachments that arrive separately, exports that cover client information only, chart exports that are PDFs rather than rows, and deletion deadlines after a subscription ends. Each comes from the vendor's own documentation, linked on the page.

Then import for real

The actual import happens inside the desktop app under Settings → Import data, with a full preview of problem rows and duplicates before anything is written, and it is safe to re-run. The data import guide has the templates and the steps; the switching systems page covers what to export before you cancel.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is my patient list uploaded?

No. The file is opened by your browser on your device and read there. Nothing is sent to SideClick or anyone else, and nothing is stored when you close the page.

My system is not one of the four. Is the inspector still useful?

Yes. It still shows which of your columns match the SideClick template names, which do not, and whether the dates are in the accepted format — which is most of the work of preparing a file.

Why are the vendor profiles marked as provisional?

They were built from each vendor's export documentation rather than from observed files, so a real export may name a column differently. The in-app wizard never auto-selects on an ambiguous file, and the preview shows every row it cannot place before anything is written.
